Happy Monday! Pumpkin everything is coming! I can feel it! See...

Some of you may already be familiar with Emmaline Bride. It's described as "the ultimate handmade wedding guide." They focus on everything from centerpieces to bridal jewelry, and it's all handmade. I joined their "marketplace" a while ago and am teaming up with them this week for a little giveaway! These earrings are up for grabs. Simply go here to enter! It ends on Friday. :)

I also wanted to show you the gold circle necklace that's new in the shop. You've seen the silver one already here.

9.27.13

I know I go into fall kicking and screaming every year, but once I'm done, I truly enjoy it. There's something very exciting about fall due to the expectancy hanging in the air. Bonfires, apple cider, scarves and sweaters, pumpkin donuts, honey crisp apples, leaves changing color, and hot tea...lovely. From the week:

-Tiny little pinecone on a chain in the shop.

-Pumpkin Spice Rice Crispy Treats, a recipe that I will definitely be trying soon!

-Google like a boss...self-explanatory

-I enjoyed this little post by Jess Lively about getting her winter coat relined. I haven't heard anyone say "my tailor" outside of a movie in ever. Looks beautiful and is definitely more affordable if you go around buying $300 coats. Someday, maybe...

-Real big Psych fan here, but I can't believe someone made a site for all the "Gus, don't be a..." lines. :) It's great.

-I can honestly say that I already knew every single one of Refinery 29's hospitality tips from my mother. :)

-I think I'm getting this...

-Great story that happened in the midst of the terror in Kenya last week...

-Beautiful photo (Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn) :)

Grace, Not Perfection

I blogged about this issue a few months ago and it is still something I wrestle with...speaking truth, reason and grace to myself instead of expecting perfection (something most often driven by the human definition of success). I read this article from Relevant magazine about the idea of "success" and how we define it. It was very helpful and encouraging to stop and measure what is truly valuable and realize that I am successful already! Trying to focus on our actual lives and what is important instead of the need for perfection is in essence extending grace to ourselves and others. Please extend this grace to your own self and be encouraged. Don't shame yourself because you're not living "perfectly," be thankful and live graciously.

He says, "My grace is sufficient..." and it is!

Hello Fall...

Fall is upon us as of yesterday. It's impossible to deny it now. I'm adjusting as best I can, but my allergies kicked in exactly when the new season did, so I'm a little bitter. I need something hot to drink...

I had a good time housesitting for Sadie the Boston Terrier with my sister last week. As you can see, I didn't blog at all and that was due to internet conflicts at the house. I'm excited to be back at it this week!

Here's another fall listing...I'm growing to appreciate the things that can be worn with anything and everything right now. I found these circles that are crooked and unique and really liked them a lot. They're coming in gold, too! Check it out in the shop.

Farrago Friday 9.13.13

It's Friiiiiday!!!! I'm headed off to housesit through next weekend w/ my sister. Sadie the Boston Terrier is going to be hanging with us.

Here's the batch of random from this week...

-I don't know who took this picture (sorry), but I'd like to know how they got into my house when I was 4 without my mother seeing them! Seriously, this could be me and my sis. It jumped out at me because we plan to watch old animated Disney movies while we housesit. Good stuff! :)

-When I got my haircut, the stylist used this on my hair and it stayed quite soft and smooth for a really long time afterwards. I'm considering ordering a bottle:

-This article was very worth reading! It was right on target for me and expressed some of the frustration I've experienced in my early 20s. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

-This may be coming to BGD...

-Cute and easy coaster DIY from Fellow Fellow:

-Dark Chocolate and Salted Caramel Topped Shortbread...I like the salt & caramel coupling going on, and these looks delicious!

-I'm pondering purchasing Jess Lively's Business With Intention At-Home Workshop...what do you think? If anyone reading this is interested in it too, she's giving 15% off to people on her newsletter mailing list who pre-register.

-I would like to live in this summer pinterest board by Beneficial Design forever, but the autumn one is beautiful too...

Chocolate Banana Bars

When I saw this recipe on Casey Weigand's blog just a couple of days ago, it made my mouth water! I am definitely trying it soon! You can find the recipe here. This would be the perfect thing to eat with my favorite specialty coffee drink, called "Funky Monkey," that a local coffee shop makes. It's mocha and banana of course, and I love it!

Look, Daddy! Paste it!

My dad taught my sister and me how to change a flat tire last night! Many of you probably knew how already, but I had just never gotten around to learning. I am so proud to now have such a skill! And if you have ever doubted your ability to change one, I can tell you, it's easy. I even found a little visual guide from primermagazine.com to show you how simple it is, even though, it would probably be better for you to find an "in the know" man to give you a demonstration. I feel so much better knowing that I could get back on the road without assistance if I had to. :)

Hello Week!

Hello Week! You're pretty empty and promising, aren't you? Nothing out of the ordinary happening and I should have plenty of time to focus on work and some neglected projects! So, Hi-ho, Hi-ho and all that...

Here's the latest in the new collection... The leaf is pewter and oxidized, so I didn't want to use a shiny sterling silver chain with it. I thought the gold contrasted in a prettier way. Simple and dainty... What do you think?

And a song for Monday...;)

On My Mind...

There's a lot on my mind, but less on my head. I got my hair cut about 2 weeks ago after 4 years of long long hair. I loved having long hair, but I've wanted to switch to a long bob for a while now. Just needed a change. Pics to come...

On my mind...

-What in the world are "they" thinking by making another Batman movie and doing it without Chris Nolan and Christian Bale??? Are "they" insane? I'm not even going to watch such a thing. I don't care who it is "they" hire. Ben Affleck is a good actor, but I'd feel the same way about him being Batman as I would about Orlando Bloom being Batman...it's futile.

-What is happening in our country right now? Why are things so messed up?? (Always on my mind)

- College Football has arrived and I can't figure out how I feel about it. If I tried, I'm sure I could enjoy it...

- I really want to get out on the tennis court this fall.

-Are you as excited as I am about Hitchcock Sundays on Turner Classic Movies this month? I've watched "Rope" "Marnie" and "Shadow of A Doubt" already...all so creepy.

- I love Guacamole. I love Bruschetta. Behold... Guacamole Bruschetta!

- I'm rereading C.J. Mahaney's Humility. I've sensed a need...but it's not just for those who feel a need. Read it, it's an incredible message for anyone.

Fall Draws Nigh

Fall is beautiful, but I am always sad to see summer go. I wouldn't even be acknowledging that summer is almost over if it weren't for the fact that I find myself in an industry that marks seasons so early. And so, I have a collection of jewelry pieces that focuses on fall, and I will be showing them to you over the next couple of weeks.

First up, these peach moonstone cluster earrings in gold. Don't they cascade like little fall leaves? :) These are representative of the feel I was going for with everything I made for fall...simple, light, bright, and rich in color. The peach chalcedony in particular seemed very woodsy and reminded me of a sweet spice like nutmeg or cinnamon. There's a lot of Pantone's koi in them, as well. Click here to see them in the shop.

Happy Labor Day, everyone! :)
